Reimagining mental wellness app

Bloom app redesign

With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing drastic changes to our daily lives, many have begun reaching out for external help on their mental toll – from psychiatrists to mental wellness apps. In response to this phenomenon and being an avid mental wellness app user myself, I decided to redesign Bloom to enhance its usability.

Updated Features

Here are some previews of my final prototypes with new and upgraded features.

Where does Bloom stand

in the mental wellness market?

Delving in

Behavioral Analysis

I first focused on our research strategy to identify the opportunities for growth and enhancement. Conducted research on mental wellness app user behavior, app trends statistics, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and unique user trends that specifically emerged in COVID-19.

Define

Affinity Mapping

To define Bloom’s users, I first began by organizing the information I retrieved from research and interviews. After our interview we grouped and categorized the data into an Affinity Map which enabled us to have a clearer understanding of the user experience

NEXT STEPS

Wrapping Up

Through this project, I learned how personalization is an essential feature in order for every user to maximize his or her experience. Moreover, the hierarchy and wording within the app should be clear to minimize confusion. If users feel confused and overwhelmed while using the app, it’s most likely that they will discontinue their usage and leave on a negative note.

In the future, I would like to conduct more usability testing to take each user’s unique feedback into enhancing Bloom’s features. Although we wouldn’t be able to take every individual’s situation into account, it would be helpful to devise of various ways to cope with each circumstance.
